Gotokuji Temple

While Kaz was getting his hair cut and dyed, I went to the nearby temple, Gotokuji. The temple is famous for its beckoning cat statues which bring good luck. Legend had it that a samurai lord was standing under a pine tree in a storm and a monk's cat beckoned him to come inside. Just after the lord followed the cat, the tree he had been standing under was struck by lightning and burned to a crisp. The lord thereafter promised to worship at this temple.
